Who is D?
Meet my husband, D. He’s a stylish Canadian fellow from British Columbia who loves fine tailoring, and was, I suspect, born in entirely the wrong century.
D’s style is understated, and faintly of another age. Picture gentleman explorer meets stylish country gent, with a touch of crusty academic chic scattered in for good measure — chunky corduroy, leather elbow patches, and louche afternoons spent in wood-panelled libraries.
As a collector of fine threads, D’s wardrobe is boundless — unlike my patience. D’s enthusiasm for clothing continues to outpace the available wardrobe infrastructure, and quite simply, there is no room left in our house.
So, with his permission, I have begun re-homing pieces of his pre-loved luxury menswear: classic tailoring, worn sparingly and acquired over many years.
But how does one go about marketing an overenthusiastic wardrobe — all in one very particular size — in a crowded marketplace?
Well…a good yarn seems only fitting.
And so I began to wonder: who might have worn these clothes in another time and place? Each piece carries a certain character — a suggestion of a life previously lived, and perhaps one still to come.
Style That Has Already Been Somewhere.
And thus, House of D was born.
Here you will meet a cast of fictitious fellows on imagined adventures, all sporting D’s genuine, hardly worn classics. My hope is that their stories amuse you, intrigue you, and perhaps persuade you to slip into their style — these pieces are simply waiting for their next chapter.
Do join me — and subscribe to receive our wardrobe adventures as they unfold.
Oh, and who am I?
How kind of you to ask.
I’m D’s British wife, who has tripped over one too many pairs of Berlutis! I wear many hats and answer to many names — but here, you may call me:
Lucinda, Head of Garment Rehoming
